(if you're struggling with the browser version, try downloading the game below)

Nuclear hellfire has ravaged the earth, and you must lead your community through the darkness.

You will face innumerable threats: starvation, raiders, rebellions and rats.

CONTENT WARNING: Bad language and violence are present in this game (via text, not images).

To survive, you must master every societal challenge posed by the apocalypse:

Technological – You must desperately try to find new sources of fuel and electricity, or let your society regress to a pre-industrial state; can democracy survive when 90% of the population have to work the land?

Economic – In a simulated market economy, your people will create, sell and buy numerous goods, all the while blaming every shortage on you. By accident (or malevolent design) you may create vast wealth differences between members of your community.

Political – The biggest threat to your power is not raiders or radiation (though you will also have to contend with those), but your own people. Should you displease them, they may vote against you, strike or outright rebel.

Divide them up into competing classes: create an underclass of ‘’Men’’ stripped of wages and the right to vote, while ‘’Women’’ reap the rewards, and loyally serve in your armies. Discriminate against religious minorities, and kidnap slaves from other communities.

Or forge a different path, one not so strewn with hatred and violence, but be prepared for hell: this dead world is not like our own, and maintaining our values will not be easy.

If you enjoy Apocalyptic Empire, let me know!

Leave a comment or a review (criticism is welcome). The game is perfectly playable as is, but I’ll add more content if people show interest. The downloadable version is also available, if you want to play with a higher resolution and framerate.

(If a download has TESTING in the name, then it is for playtesting new features, expect game-breaking bugs. Only play if you are desperate to see the latest patch.)

How do I produce food? I tried over 100 times and there won't be food and i couldn't make any progress.

Don't worry, that is the usual way you end up dying, lots of things can get in the way of food production. You unlock farms in castle upgrades, subsidise them to get em off the ground, and then people should start working there. From there, there are various strategies to increase production, but that's the basics. It might be you've run into a genuine glitch tho, if you want to send me a screenshot then please do.

Thanks for playing and commenting :)

I tried. There was sadly no increase of food production even though it said 8 daily production. And yes i subsidise like 100% of my salary and there were like 2 weeks no strikers, all 4 of my people aren't jobless, but somehow I still get 0 food per week.(I don't know how to screenshot on MacBook Air, sorry.)

Ahh, did you try buying food at the market? It sounds like food is being produced, but your people are buying it all up, To get food to spend, you need to buy it for the government at the market (you can unlock the market in castle upgrades).

Can you play on mobile?

Not really; the text is too small for phones, and it was too laggy on my tablet. Might have a go porting it eventually.

For now, I'll reply to any technical issues / bug reports here in the comments, but if things get too busy here I'll make us a discord.
